Principal’s Message
Welcome to James Lewis Elementary!
It is an honor to serve as your principal and to be part of such an incredible community of students, staff, and families. As I begin my first year as lead principal, I am excited to join the proud tradition of excellence that makes James Lewis a special place to learn and grow.
I bring with me 15 years of experience in education and five years in school administration. My educational journey began at Northwest Missouri State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I later completed a master’s degree in English Language Learners from Northwest Missouri State University and earned my Specialist Degree in K-12 Leadership from the University of Central Missouri.
Before entering administration, I spent ten years teaching world languages. I taught high school Spanish for five years and middle school Spanish and World Languages for five years. These experiences shaped my belief that every student deserves a supportive learning environment where they feel valued, challenged, and empowered to succeed. In the fall of 2022, I began my journey in educational leadership, a path that has deepened my commitment to serving students, supporting educators, and partnering with families.
One of the things that has immediately stood out to me about James Lewis is the welcoming spirit of our Supercat community. James Lewis is truly a wonderful place to belong. The dedication of our staff, the involvement of our families, and the enthusiasm of our students create a culture where everyone feels connected and supported. It is easy to see why so many families are proud to call themselves Supercats.
At James Lewis, we are committed to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to excellence are the foundation of a thriving school community. By working together, we can ensure that every child has meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the James Lewis community and look forward to building relationships, celebrating successes, and creating lasting memories together. We are proud to be Supercats, and we are excited to partner with you in making this school year a successful and rewarding experience for every student.
Warm Regards,
Kelsey Becker
